Florida's Future Corridors: East Central Florida Corridor Task Force
On Friday November 1st Governor Rick Scott signed an Executive Order creating the East Central Florida Corridor Task Force. The purpose of the Task Force is to evaluate and develop recommendations on transportation, environment, and land use planning for portions of Brevard, Orange, and Osceola counties.
Governor Scott said, "It is important that we take a responsible, long-term look at how we plan statewide and regional transportation corridors. The East Central Florida Corridor Task Force will review and develop transportation plans that will allow this region to create more private sector jobs for Florida families and improve connectivity for people and freight while preserving Florida's critical natural resources and agricultural lands."
The Task Force is part of a broader statewide Future Corridors effort to coordinate future land uses and the supporting transportation network, and will serve a pilot planning effort to be tested and evaluated for use in other future corridor planning efforts statewide. Major transportation corridors and protection of the state's unique environmental and agricultural resources are critical to the state's economic competitiveness and quality of life over the next 50 years. The Task Force will build upon a regional vision supported by an analysis of land use, mobility, economic, environmental, and community issues in the study area. View The Full Press Release

Brevard 2040 Symposium Success!
The Brevard 2040 Transportation Symposium was held on October 3rd and was a huge success! We had 83 participants and we received a tremendous amount of great feedback and input.
The video recording and the materials presented at the symposium are now on the SpaceCoast2040.com website. The recording of the symposium is also airing periodically on Space Coast Government Television which is channel 99 or 199 for subscribers to Bright House Networks.
The information that was gathered will be incorporated in the development of several future scenarios for our 2040 Long Range Transportation Plan. Once developed, these scenarios will then help identify transportation improvements that will be needed in the future.
An Open House will be held in January for public review and comment on the scenarios. Notices will be posted when the date, time, and location are set.
We look forward to your continued involvement in the development of our 2040 Long Range Transportation Plan.
